Monuments to photographers and cameras
All photographs are there to remind us of what we forget. In this – as in other ways – they are the opposite of paintings. Paintings record what the painter remembers. Because each one of us forgets different things, a photo more than a painting may change its meaning according to who is looking at it. John Berger
This post is a tribute to a profession of a photographer, with a collection of quotes and pictures of monuments to photographers and cameras in different cities and countries. The work of a photographer is not a simple thing, as somebody said – “Buying a Nikon doesn’t make you a photographer. It makes you a Nikon owner”.
