Most beautiful skiers and biathletes
This highly subjective ranking of mine includes the most interesting skiers (ski racing participants and alpine skiers) and biathletes (shooting skiers). In the top are included both – active athletes and those who have already completed their career. Let’s start with Miriam Gessner (born June 21, 1990) – German biathlon and cross-country skier, two-time world champion (2011, 2012) biathlon relay race, a silver medalist in the relay for skiing Olympic Games in Vancouver in 2010. She will not participate at the Olympic Games in Sochi, because of health reasons (persistent back pain).

11th place: Lindsey Vonn (born October 18, 1984) – American skier, Vancouver Olympic champion in downhill, winner of four overall World Cup standings (2008, 2009, 2010 and 2012) and twice world champion 2009 in super-G and downhill. Has the second highest number of wins at the World Cup in the history of women’s skiing. Lindsey Vonn will not participate in the Sochi games due to a knee injury. In addition to her athletic victories, Vonn is known as the current girlfriend of the famous golfer Tiger Woods.

10th place: Yekaterina Yurieva (born June 11, 1983, Tchaikovsky, Perm region) – Russian biathlon world champion in 2008 in the individual race. Was not included into the Russian biathlon team at the Games in Sochi

9th place: Nadezhda Pisareva (born July 5, 1988, Kingisepp, Leningrad region) – Russian and Belarusian biathlete, world bronze medalist in biathlon relay in 2011 in the national team of Belarus. Will take part in the Olympic Games in Sochi (in the national team of Belarus).

8th place: Kristina Ilchenko (born July 17, 1993, Labytnangy, Yamal-Nenets Autonomous District) – Russian biathlon-juniors, winner of the bronze in the pursuit race and the winner in the composition of the mixed relay team at the World Junior Championships in summer biathlon 2013

7th place: Magdalena Neuner (born 9 February 1987) – German biathlon most titled athlete in the history of women’s biathlon. Neuner is 12-times world champion and two-time Olympic champion Games in Vancouver. Completed a career at the end of season 2011/2012

6th place: Albina Akhatova (born November 13, 1976, Nikolsk, Vologda Region) – Russian biathlon, the Olympic champion in the relay at the Games in Turin in 2006 and four-time World Champion. Decided to end to his sports career in 2010.

5th place: Katrin Apel (born May 4, 1973) – German biathlon, Olympic Champion (1998 Nagano and Salt Lake City 2002), four-time World Champion. Completed a career in 2007

4th place: Vanessa Mae (b. 27 October 1978, Singapore) – British violinist of Thai-Chinese origin, will perform in Soci Olympiad in discipline giant slalom. Besides music, in a girl’s life, there is another serious hobby – skiing, which she has been involved into since the age of 4 years. In January 2014 she was qualified for the Olympic Games in Sochi, where the team will represent Thailand in one of the disciplines of skiing – the giant slalom. Vanessa will perform under the name of the father – Vanakorn

3rd Place: Gabriela Soukalova (born November 1, 1989) – Czech biathlete, world bronze medalist in the mixed relay in 2013. Will take part in the Olympic Games in Sochi

2nd place: Darya Domracheva (born August 3, 1986) – Belarusian biathlete, twice world champion, Olympic bronze medalist in Vancouver. Will take part in the Olympic Games in Sochi. Domracheva is among the top most beautiful Belorussians.
