Natural abstract of Icelandic rivers – a series of pictures that resemble abstract works, in fact, are photographs of real environments. And the author of these alien landscapes filmed over Iceland – Russian photographer Andrei Yermolayev. Andrei noticed unusual panorama from the air. The rivers flowing through volcanic landscapes, have incredible natural forms and can only be seen from a bird’s flight. Andrei Yermolayev took his pictures from an airplane window at a height of 800 m.
The rivers of Iceland have a number of features, determined by the unique nature of the island. Characterized by a short length (up to 230 km), rapacity and swiftness, they are inadequate and have a large reserve of hydropower resources.Besides, most rivers have glacial feeding, and the maximum runoff is in the summer, during the melting of glaciers. For such rivers, floods are frequent, including very strong ones, caused by the eruption of under-ice volcanoes.
