Born in 1998, a Yemeni girl Nujood Ali became the first 10-year-old divorced (2008). Also, she became a “Woman of the year”, together with her Laywer Schade Nasser. On April 2, 2008, just two months after the wedding she managed to escape from her 30-year-old husband, and come to court. It was an arranged marriage in which she said a husband three times her age routinely beat and raped her. Mohammed al-ghadha, a judge, gave her temporary refuge, and took into custody both her father and husband. Nujood Ali has committed act that caused tremendous respect and became an example to others, inspired efforts to annul other child marriages.
