Papercuts by Joe Bagley
An archaeologist Joe Bagley is 25 years old, born 3 February 1985. According to Joe Bagley, he has changed his professional activities into the long term hobby. Being a 10 year-old child Joe liked to sculpt paper images, his art work pace was 1-2 pieces a year, copying well known artists. Fortunately, Joe finally lives the way he always wanted, in particular, the life of an artist.
Meanwhile, Joe Bagley hand-cuts original fine art from a single sheet of paper. He has been working as an artist since 2008 creating both original fine art as well as custom paper cuttings for clients around the world.
According to the artist, in total, he cut over 25,000 holes in the sheet of paper used to create the piece. “It was a truly challenging piece, and not just for the fragile nature of the design. In particular, the somewhat grueling nature of cutting so many tiny holes in order to finish a small area”. The artist adds, “I carted the piece around New England this summer during my archaeology fieldwork. And often – cutting it in hotel rooms in the evening”.
