Replica of classical painting of Italian master. Sculptural work from staples by Baptiste Debombourg, French artist and sculptor
Sculptural work from staples by Baptiste Debombourg
French painter and sculptor Baptiste Debombourg used staples to create a stunningly intricate mural at the Karlin Studio in Prague. Debombourg used 450,000 staples and 70 hours of working time in his site-specific work, choosing his materials based solely on where the piece will be exhibited. “My sculptural work is generally part of a contextual approach, and I operate in a space with materials chosen specially for it,” says the French artist. Baptiste calls himself a sculptor, but his work is very difficult to distinguish from classical paintings. Frenchman claims that he was inspired by classic Italian Mannerists: Bronzino, Giuseppe Arcimboldo, Alessandro Allori, and others.
