Tales of the Far East by Gennady Pavlyshin
Born 27 August 1938 in Khabarovsk, Gennady Pavlyshin was fond of drawing since early childhood. He created his first real picture “On the Amur” (oil on canvas) while studying in the art club of young artists at the Palace of Pioneers. Then, he studied in the Vladivostok Art College, from which he graduated in 1964.
After the college, he worked in the laboratory of ethnography of the Far Eastern Branch of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (Vladivostok). Meanwhile, he traveled a lot in the Far East. Studying the life, customs and culture of indigenous peoples, he created numerous drawings and sketches for future paintings.
Since 1965 he actively collaborated with the Khabarovsk book publishing house. His books were published in the US, Greece, France, Japan and other countries. In recent years, he has been working on creating mosaic panels for the Russian Orthodox Church.
Member of the USSR Union of Artists since 1973. He lives and works in Khabarovsk.
